The National Charity Support Foundation is a non-profit organization that accepts such donations, auctions them, and proceeds from the sale come to the Library Foundation. It's easy. The San Marino Public Library Foundation
The Foundation is a tax exempt organization established to provide financial support for capital projects necessary to the San Marino Public Library.
The Foundation's goals are long term and its mission is to offer continuing support for major projects and initiatives identified by the City Council and Board of Trustees of the San Marino Public Library.
There are 18 Directors of the Foundation, serving terms of 1 - 3 years. The public library's Board of Trustees and the Friends of the San Marino Public Library are represented as liaisons on the Foundation's Board of Directors.
First Major Project
The first Foundation fund raising effort in the mid 1990's brought a state-of-the-art electronic information system to the San Marino Public Library.
The campaign raised funds necessary to purchase the hardware and the software necessary to bring SMILES (San Marino Interactive Library & Education System) to the community and to the schools. The response of the community was gratifying. Contributions exceeded $150,000.
