Chief John Schaefer
Chief of
Police John Schaefer joined the San Marino Police Department in October
2007 with impressive credentials. He earned an Associates Degree in
Police Science, a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from CSULB, and
a Masters in Public Administration from USC. Outside the classroom, he
distinguished himself during 24 years with the Cypress Police Department
and 6 years with the Seal Beach Police Department, including 3 years as
its Chief of Police.
Chief Schaefer is a native
Californian who enjoys jogging, racquetball, movies, working in his
yard, and time with his family. His wife Kaetchen is a homemaker,
illustrator and part-time librarian. They have three daughters, Tina
(25), Gabrielle (22) and Kristen (17, and a high school basketball
player).
The first six months as Chief of

and his insights on these experiences as well as his thoughts on the
issues facing San Marino in the future.

San Marino City Club,
commonly called "City Club," is a community and civic organization,
which has served San Marino since 1926. Its purpose is to secure for the
citizens of San Marino Unified School District the best civic,
educational and cultural services and facilities possible, and to
encourage and promote the highest standards of citizenship among its
membership.
Founded as the San Marino
Civic Improvement Association, the organization was renamed San Marino
City Club and met for many years exclusively at Southwestern
Academy. City Club now
meets at the Huntington Middle School Cafeteria or the San Marino High
School Cafeteria, with an annual September
barbecue meeting, traditionally at Southwestern Academy.
City Club is limited to residents of the San Marino Unified School District, officials of the
School District or the City of San Marino, and persons who conduct their
business or profession within the School District. Membership is granted in strict
order of application.
Annual dues, including eight regular dinner meetings, are
$105.
