James Ziglar Addresses City Club

James Ziglar Addresses City Club March 16

Having started 2004 with a program that included a discussion of Chinese immigration, and following with an Afghan immigrant, San Marino City Club is honored to have James W. Ziglar, Sr., as guest speaker for its March 16th meeting.

From August, 2001 to November, 2002, Mr. Ziglar was the Commissioner of the Immigration and Naturalization Service. This was only his last significant position in federal government. Jim has promised an interesting program on some of the real goings on in Washington surrounding the events of September 11, 2001.

Mr. Ziglar's previous federal government included service as a law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Harry A. Blackmun; staff aide to U.S. Senator James O. Eastland, Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary; as Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Water and Science, in which position he had oversight responsibility for management and policy operations of the Bureau of Reclamation, the United States Geological Survey and the Bureau of Mines. In 1998, he was unanimously elected Sergeant at Arms of the U.S. Senate where he served as chief administrative officer, chief protocol officer and chief security officer for the U.S. Senate.

Mr. Ziglar's storied career has included the active practice of law for eight years, a total of 15 years experience in investment banking, and a total of 15 years of federal government service. He is currently a Distinguished Visiting Professor of Law at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Please note that the March meeting will again be at the San Marino High School Cafeteria, 2701 Huntington Drive, at 6:30 p.m. Guests are welcome, but must make a reservation by calling Dennis Kneier at (626) 578-1109. The dinner cost is $20.
