Eight New Members Inducted by City Club Eight community members were inducted into San Marino City Club at its January dinner meeting. They were Robert G. Frank, Thomas F. Kibler, Michael J. MacDermott, Mark Mayers, Kevin M. Rughe and his wife, Yasmeen S. Rughe, Perta Santley and Vincent Tricarico. Bob Frank is a 52-year resident of San Marino. He earned his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in medicine from Harvard. He is currently Professor Medical History at the UCLA School of Medicine. Bob is a Trustee of the Pasadena Museum of History and a member of the Caltech Athenaeum. Bob’s wife, Myra, passed away last month. She had been a member of City Club. Their two daughters graduated from San Marino High School. Tom Kibler rejoins City Club having been a member for many years. Tom graduated from UCLA. He has had a 35-year career in commercial real estate, currently with Coldwell Banker. Tom and his wife, Anne, are 33-year residents of San Marino and have raised two children here. Mike McDermott was born in Dearborn, Michigan and is a graduate of the University of Michigan. He holds a law degree from UCLA. For the past 28 years he has been a patent and trademark lawyer. Mike is currently a partner in the Pasadena firm of Christie, Parker & Hale. Mike and his wife, Lucy, moved to San Marino three years ago and are expecting their first child in April. Mark Mayers was born in Augusta, Georgia. Mark graduated from Cal State Fullerton and earned his MBA degree from Pepperdine University. Mark is senior vice-president and manager of International Department at City National Bank in Los Angeles. Mark and his wife, Bernadette, have a daughter who is a freshman at SMHS this year. Kevin Rughe, M.D. was born in Santa Cruz and is a graduate of the University of California Santa Barbara. He attained his M.D. degree from Medical College of Ohio, followed by specialty training in general and plastic surgery at USC Medical School. He currently heads a plastic surgery practice in Pasadena. Yasmeen Rughe, M.D. was born in Pakistan and obtained her undergraduate degree from Nazareth College. Like her husband, Kevin, Yasmeen attended Medical College of Ohio. She completed her internship, residency and fellowship at USC Medical School, where she specialized in cardiology. She is a cardiologist in Pasadena. Her hobbies include writing, poetry and cooking. Yasmeen and Kevin have two children. Perta Santley was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and raised in San Luis Obispo, California. She received her undergraduate degree in education from USC and her Masters in Education from USIU in San Diego. Perta has devoted her career to teaching, and was named San Marino’s ‘Teacher of the Year’ for 1992-1993. She continues to teach in the SMUSD, bu now on a substitute basis. She and husband, Tom, who is City Club president this year, have two grown children who graduated from SMHS and USC. Vince Tricarico received his undergraduate and law degrees from St. John’s University in New York. Vince has practiced law for 33 years as a business trial lawyer and is a partner in the downtown Los Angeles firm of Clark & Trevithick. He and his wife, Dolores, has been San Marino residents for 23 years. They have two grown children. Vince is an avid sports fan, plays golf, and coached San Marino Little League for many years. City Club is a community and civic organization, which was founded in 1926. Residents of San Marino Unified School District, officials of the school district or the City of San Marino, and persons who conduct their business or profession within the school district are eligible for membership in City Club.
