San Marino City Club presented seven new members at the dinner meeting held on February 17. According to president Tom Santley, these outstanding individuals represent the best of San Marino. Inducted were Nancy Frykman, Debra Man, Tom Moreland, Kim Spindler, Alan Ying, Christopher R. Czuchaj, and Peter A. Loeffler. Nancy Frykman was born in Hollywood and graduated from UCLA. Nancy had a long career in education and recently retired from the Alhambra School District. Nancy and her husband, Edward, raised two children who attended San Marino schools. She has been active in community organizations, having served as president of Huntington Middle School PTA and as a trustee of the San Marino Schools Foundation. Currently, Nancy is a member of Pasadena Junior Philharmonic and San Marino Community Church. Debra Man was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, and is a frequent visitor to the islands. She earned a degree in civil and structural engineering from the University of Hawaii and a Master’s degree in civil and water resources engineering fro Stanford University. Debra has a 20-year career in the water industry and is chief operating officer at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. A 15-year resident of San Marino, Debra enjoys reading, biking and cycling. Tom Moreland was raised in San Marino and earned a degree in accounting from the University of La Verne. He entered the financial services industry in 1997 and now is president and CEO of Moreland Capital Management located in San Marino’s Mission District. Tom is involved with the SMHS varsity football program and he and his wife, Kelly, are expecting their first child this summer. Kim Spindler is a California native but went to the University of Oregon for her college undergraduate studies. She obtained a degree in physical therapy from the University of San Francisco Medical School. Kim practiced as an independent physical therapist for many years, but is now a mother and homemaker. Her husband, Mike, is also a City Club member. They have two young children. Alan Ying was born in Taipei and earned his undergraduate degree in engineering from USC. He also holds an MBA degree from USC. Alan and his wife, Annie, have lived in San Marino for 14 years. They raised two children in San Marino schools who are now in college. Alan is CEO of EverFocus Electronics, a San Marino-based form providing video surveillance cameras and security services. Alan’s hobbies include golf and playing bridge. Christopher Czuchaj was born in Detroit, Michigan, and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. He also holds a Masters in International Relations from Michigan. His minor studies were in Soviet and Chinese politics. Chris is national account manager for Imagistics International, a firm specializing in government and educational reprographics. He and his wife, Cynthia, have two children. Tyler is a student at SMHS and Kaitie attends Valentine Elementary. Peter Loeffler is a native Angelino and later lived in Pasadena. Pete graduated from the University of Redlands and has enjoyed a career in real estate. Pete is presents of Re/Max Premier Properties in San Marino. He has two grown children and four grandsons. Pete is a golfer and participates in triathlons. Active in several community organizations, Pete was the 2002 president of the Pasadena-Foothills Association of Rest Homes. City Club is a community and civic organization, which was founded in 1926. Residents of the San Marino Unified School District, officials of the School District of the City of San Marino, and persons who conduct their business or profession within the School District are eligible for membership in City Club.
